Our Story

A Sri Lankan family with a deep love for their homeland dreamed of creating places where the world could slow down again. That dream became Mountain Boutiques. Born from deep routed family values—warmth, generosity, craftsmanship, and care—Mountain Boutiques was built with a simple promise: to offer luxury that feels deeply personal. Not the grandeur of crowded lobbies, but the quiet elegance of intimate spaces. Not scripted service, but heartfelt hospitality rooted in Sri Lankan culture.

Each boutique hotel in the collection is shaped by its surroundings. In the highlands, suites open to sweeping valleys. Near tranquil lakes, the lodges rest under canopies of ancient trees. Along forest edges, open-air dining brings guests closer to the sounds of nature. Everywhere, artistry and architecture blend seamlessly with the environment. .

But the true heart of Mountain Boutiques is its family spirit. Guests are welcomed as honored friends. Meals are inspired by family recipes. Local artisans, farmers, and storytellers contribute to every detail—from handmade decor and paintings to the vibrant spices in every authentic dish.

Proudly owned and managed by a wholly Sri Lankan company with over two decades of experience and expertise in the hospitality industry, we take pride in our dynamic team who with their dedication and exceptional service, enhances the experience and value of a boutique hotel stay.

Founder's Message

Dulani & Channa

Growing up in the breathtaking landscapes of Sri Lanka, we always believed our island was one of the most beautiful places in the world. Yet it wasn’t until our years studying and living in Australia that we truly understood how special “home” was—not just for its scenery, but for its warmth, its soul, and its stories.

When we returned, we dreamed of creating something that honored all of this. Not a traditional hotel, not a grand resort— but intimate sanctuaries where guests could feel the Sri Lanka we love.

Quiet luxury, deep authenticity, and heartfelt hospitality.

This dream became Mountain Boutiques.

We built this collection as a family, guided by our values and inspired by the people and places around us. Each location was carefully selected and the space was conceptualized and built by us to reflect true Sri Lankan authenticity

As founders, our mission is simple: to create meaningful stays that stay with you. And every guest is welcomed the way we welcome friends into our home—with sincerity, generosity, and care.

We thank you for being part of our journey!

Dulani Guruge

Founder & Managing Director

With a passion shaped by global education and deep Sri Lankan roots, Dulani brings more than 22 years of expertise to the heart of Mountain Boutiques. She completed her tertiary education in Australia, earning a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing, Management, and E-Commerce from Deakin University, followed by an MBA from Edith Cowan University.

Her career began as a Management Trainee in a leading multinational company promoting inbound tourism to Sri Lanka, where she gained invaluable experience representing the country at major international travel fairs and building global partnerships. This exposure led her naturally into the hotel industry, where she excelled in managerial roles and deepened her understanding of luxury hospitality.

Driven by a vision to redefine boutique travel in Sri Lanka, Dulani embarked on creating her own hotel brand specializing in intimate, luxurious, and sustainable retreats. In 2016, she built her first boutique hotel—an accomplishment that has since grown into a collection of five unique luxury properties, each thoughtfully placed in one of Sri Lanka’s most captivating locations.

An avid traveler with a love for architecture and exploration, Dulani personally conceptualized and designed every Mountain Boutiques property. Her eye for detail and passion for storytelling through space have shaped a collection where each hotel carries its own identity, charm, and sense of place.

Today, her leadership continues to shape Mountain Boutiques into one of Sri Lanka’s most distinctive boutique hotel brands—rooted in authenticity, guided by purpose, and inspired by the beauty of the island she calls home.
